Last weekend Mark and I took Shanaynay & Bubble on a super fun trail walk. We ventured out to the Lakeland Highlands Scrub in South Lakeland. As you can see we had a lot of fun. The weather was excellent, we couldn't ask for a better day!
The park contains one of the largest undeveloped scrub communities (140 acres) on the Lakeland Ridge. The natural communities on the site include sand live oak, scrub, dry prairie, pine flatwoods, depression marsh, basin marsh and basin swamp. Initial surveys show that the property is home to at least five rare plant species, as well as gopher tortoises, eastern indigo snakes, Florida Scrub-jays and a number of wading bird species.
Ummmmm yeah......thats a long story.
